Type Locality and Naming
Southeast Liaoning. The Miaoshan Fm was named by Yu Jianzhang, Cui Shengqin and Qiu Ganlin in 1964. The typical section is situated in Xihai'an to Dashitougou in the Yongning basin of Fuxian County, Liaoning Province. Uppermost formation of Yongning Gr.
Synonym: （庙山组）
Lithology and Thickness
The Miaoshan Fm is a suite of feldspathic greywacke, composed of brown red coarse-grained feldspathic graywacke and pebbly medium- to coarse-grained feldspathic graywacke. Near the top there is dark purple granule gritstone. The thickness is 2645 m.

Lower contact
It rests conformably on the underlying Duozishan Fm (in east Liaoning)

Regional extent
With a limited distribution, it is only exposed in Yongning Basin and Jiushijie in Lushun area.
